Built by practitioners, for practitioners.

DebtLens is built by Jean-Marc Strauven, a software engineer with 25+ years of experience across enterprise banking and marketplace CTO roles.

Why DebtLens exists

The idea came from a recurring frustration: every engineering leader knows their tech debt is expensive, but nobody can put a number on it that a CFO will accept. Metaphors fail. Story points fail. "It will slow us down" fails.

Numbers work.

DebtLens is the invoice your codebase should have been sending you for years.

“In 2019, I was a CTO trying to get budget approval for a critical refactoring. I had SonarQube scores. I had story point estimates. I had team frustration anecdotes.

The CFO asked one question: ‘How much will this save us next year?’

I didn't have an answer.

I built DebtLens so the next CTO in that room does.”

Our philosophy

Privacy-first

Code stays local. Only aggregated numbers are sent to the hub. Your source is never read, parsed, or stored on our servers.

Pragmatic

No vanity metrics. Every number in DebtLens is tied to a decision you can actually make — refactor this, train that dev, block that PR.

Predictable pricing

Flat rate, not per-seat. Your CFO approves one line item. Your developers never feel counted.

Open about trade-offs

We tell you where DebtLens is the right tool — and where it isn't. We compete on clarity, not feature lists.
